Questions, answered straight.
The short version: your AI is the analyst, Tally is the risk officer, and nothing here executes trades.
What is Tally?
Tally is the risk officer for AI-assisted trading: a trading-discipline layer that mounts inside Claude and ChatGPT as a connector. Your AI does the research and monitoring; Tally holds the record neither you nor the model can rewrite — pre-registered theses, immutable exit rules, a 24-hour cooling-off before capital moves, and a public receipt for every closed trade.
How is Tally different from a normal trading journal?
Journals record what you did; Tally enforces what you said you'd do. Exit rules are written before entry and freeze when the thesis arms — they can trigger, never be edited. Breaking a rule is allowed, but only with a written justification that stays on the record forever. A journal can't stop you from rationalizing; a record you can't rewrite can.
How do I connect Tally to Claude or ChatGPT?
Add the connector URL https://tally.markets/api/mcp in your AI's settings (Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector; ChatGPT: Plugins → New plugin, paste it as the Server URL with OAuth authentication), sign in with your Tally account, and say "Get started with Tally, then run my checkup." Setup takes about two minutes — the full walkthrough is at tally.markets/connect.
Does Tally work with Claude Code and other coding agents?
Yes. Run `claude mcp add --transport http tally https://tally.markets/api/mcp` in your terminal, then `/mcp` inside Claude Code to sign in. Any MCP-capable agent can mount the same server by pointing at that URL.
Does Tally execute trades?
No, never. Every broker and venue connection is read-only at the API level — Tally has no ability to place, modify, or cancel orders, by architecture and by policy. It reads your positions and fills only to reconcile them against your journal.
Which brokers does Tally support?
Brokerage accounts connect read-only through SnapTrade's secure portal: Robinhood, Charles Schwab, Webull, Alpaca, Fidelity, Interactive Brokers, and 20+ more. You sign in at your broker — credentials never touch Tally — and fills sync hourly so an exit you forgot to log never slips past the record.
What is the morning checkup?
One scheduled task in your AI app that runs daily: it pulls your active theses, gathers fresh readings for each exit criterion, logs them as evidence, and flags anything that has objectively triggered — before you've had coffee. The exact prompt to schedule is on tally.markets/connect.
What is a trading receipt?
Every closed trade mints a public receipt page: entry and exit dates, the result as a multiple of the risk you pre-registered (R), separate grades for process and outcome, and your closing reasoning word for word. Receipts never show dollar amounts or account details — they're proof of process, built to be shared.
How does Tally stop me from breaking my own rules?
Three mechanisms: a 24-hour cooling-off between writing a thesis and putting capital behind it; exit criteria that freeze at arming and can only fire, never be edited; and an override ledger — you can exit against your rules, but only by writing down why, permanently. Your AI reads the same record, so it can't talk you out of your exit either.
What does Tally cost?
It starts free with no card required — the free plan covers your first active theses, and paid plans lift the cap once the journal has proven it changes your behavior. Connecting your AI and your broker are both free.
